Maria joined Turning Point’s team in February 2024.

Born and raised in the vibrant tapestry of New York City, Maria’s passion for public service is deeply rooted in her identity as the daughter of immigrants in the Pakistani Muslim diaspora. Through the R.I.S.E. Initiative, a grassroots movement focused on collective empowerment through community reconciliation and mutual aid, Maria has organized educational initiatives for underserved immigrant women and children, as well as successful fundraisers and drives. Her fluency in Urdu and Punjabi allows her to bridge cultural gaps, while her love for anthropology and art enriches her holistic approach to community engagement and social change. With a BS in Public Affairs and field experience in grassroots organizing, community outreach, and fundraising, she is committed to building stronger and safer communities through strategic partnerships, impactful initiatives, and advocacy.

She is currently pursuing an MPA in Nonprofit Management at Baruch College, with a long-term goal of delving into international law.
